All divorce actions filed in the courts of the state of
Wisconsin are viewed by the courts as contested matters
until all of the issues between the parties are resolved.
The term "uncontested divorce" usually refers
to those divorces in which the parties are in agreement
on all (or most) matters.
Uncontested divorce can also refer to divorces
handled through mediation,
where the parties are not litigating matters, but rather
trying to form workable resolutions and agreement marital
property settlements through cooperation
and collaboration.
